In The
1980’s Mexican Craftsmen developed an economical and durable alloy.
Pewter requires very little care and is made of 87.8 aluminum, 12.01%
Silicon and .18% Copper. It does not contain any lead or toxic
substance. It does not tarnish and maintains hot and cold food
temperatures longer.
The high gloss finish keeps food from sticking. Use care when using sharp knives to avoid scratches and do not store acidic foods for prolonged periods of time. Do not use in the microwave.
Decorative pieces may be polished with a clean soft cloth and glass cleaner like household Windex. Food serving and food preparing pieces should be washed in warm, soapy water, rinsed thoroughly and dried with a soft cloth. If a piece becomes scratched, use a quality silver or brass polish.
Each piece is
individually cast so imperfections are normal. Every piece is absolutely
unique—So
ENJOY!
Silver Care Instructions
Silver and Humidity:
Humidity and chemical particles in the air will tarnish Silver.
Tarnishing can be minimized through proper storage.
There are some food items like Mayonnaise dressings, salty foods,
sulfur, and even rubber items (gloves, bands, plastic), which will cause
tarnishing.
Storage:
Place items in Ziploc type plastic bags. Make sure you pinch out all the
air and seal securely. Wrapping the individual items in acid-free tissue
paper adds to the no tarnishing effect. You can also store silver in a
silver chest or box lined with tarnish preventive fabric which should be
changed every six months. Never use plastic cling wrap, newspaper or
rubber bands with your silver pieces. Lastly, when dressing, always put
your jewelry on last. After applying hairspray, makeup (oils), and
perfumes (oils). You can invest in a lighted display case. Many light
kits can be purchased at home depot stores at minimal prices. The
increased temperature within the showcase extinguishes humidity in the
case allowing your silver to remain tarnish free between nine to twelve
months before requiring any pretreated cleaning cloth or cleaning
solution.
Cleaning your Silver:
When no tarnish exists, simply wash your silver with phosphate-free soap
or detergent and dry immediately before storing. If the silver already
reflects signs of tarnishing (yellowish-brown dark tint), then use a
silver cream cleaner for detailed silver pieces or a silver treated
cleaning cloth for smoother pieces. Once you have finished, proceed to
wash your pieces and dry immediately. Washing items after cleaning with
cleaners removes residue chemicals and keeps your wardrobe clean and
safe.
Make sure to use silver cleaners that are gentle on semi-precious and
precious stones, pearls and crystals. Stay clear of stones when using
silver cleaners. Washing with phosphate free detergent will clean your
stones and use separate brushes (eye brow brushes work great) to clean
detailed silver and jewelry stones. Don’t forget to use clean cloths for
final washing and drying processes. We suggest you use non-rubber gloves
on your own hands when cleaning.
You can also use blow dryers on hard to reach places on your silver and
stone pieces so that all moisture is eliminated. Never use your
dishwasher for cleaning or drying purposes.
